Overview

This course is designed to present advances in treatment and research in couple therapy by explaining the dynamics of relationships; dissecting the patterns of interactions that have stalled relationships; and by providing information to help couples work together. A variety of treatment interventions will be highlighted to illustrate what works best for various types of challenges. The emphasis will be on creative solutions for working with couples at risk for serious conflict or divorce because of affairs, issues of attachment, intimacy, trauma, sexual dysfunction or other issues that impede relationships. Interactive learning formats, including group case discussions, Q and A, panel presentations, and didactic lectures will be used to assist the learners in developing new strategies that they can apply in their practice setting. The course is intended for mental health and health clinicians and others interested in the principles and practices of treating couples
