Current Concepts in Head and Neck & Endocrine Pathology

This four-day postgraduate course provides comprehensive coverage of practical head and neck & endocrine topics, including oropharynx, larynx, nasal and oral cavities, ear, salivary gland, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and GI endocrine. The course also covers skin, bone, soft tissue, and hematopoietic lesions of the head and neck. The course emphasizes diagnostic issues encountered in everyday practice, highlighting common pitfalls and how to avoid them. In addition to CME credit, learners will also be eligible for SAM credit for the purposes of meeting the American Board of Pathology requirements for Maintenance of Certification.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Review the assessment process used to arrive at specific diagnoses
  • Recognize unusual entities and apply criteria for their diagnosis
  • Calculate new criteria for pathologic diagnoses in head and neck pathology
  • Apply a modern staging system of tumors discussed
  • Differentiate between diagnoses of malignancy as opposed to non-neoplastic mimics of malignancy

Target Audience

This course is targeted to primary care physicians, specialty physicians and nurse practitioners. This course may also be of interest to physicians who practice in pathology, dentistry and oral maxillofacial surgery, endocrinology, otolaryngology, oncology and hematology.
