Endocrine and Diabetes Controversies in Adult Primary Care Practice is intended to provide up-to-date, state-of-the-art continuing medical education for primary care physicians and clinicians who are on the front lines of identifying and managing a wide spectrum of diabetes and endocrine disorders.

In order to be successful, it is critically important that you know when and how to identify important endocrine disorders in adults, when to screen for them and how best to manage your patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes. Providing high-quality medical care is essential. It minimizes unnecessary investigations and misinterpretation of data.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Assess the potential for an underlying endocrine etiology for patients presenting with subtle and non-specific symptoms
  • Select appropriate laboratory and imaging assessments to initiate the evaluation and management planning of patients suspected of having endocrine disease.
  • Evaluate and, when appropriate, refer patients to a consultant endocrinologist for further diagnostic evaluation, advanced therapeutic intervention and co-management when appropriate
  • Manage common endocrine conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, Osteoporosis, Vitamin D Deficiency, and primary hypothyroidism.
  • Recognize the importance of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
